Simpson STEAM Camp
STEAM Camp
Join us for Simpson's Fourth Annual STEAM camp on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Simpson. Attending students will have the opportunity to apply science, math, engineering, art, and technology concepts they learned in class through unique and exciting hands-on activities.
Taking place at Simpson and utilizing the talents of our Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math staff as well as the facilities and equipment that we use on a day-to-day basis, students who attend camp will receive close attention as they explore the concepts. STEAM Camp gives all of the instructors time for the fun hands-on activities that don't normally fit into the school year. This year, we will bring back the solar ovens that were such a hit at last year's camp. We'll also embrace the slime trend and explore polymer science through edible slime. It wouldn't be STEAM camp without the arts, and students will explore some alternative methods for creating striking works of art.
Due to the needs of the custodial and building maintenance staffs, Simpson STEAM camp will be only one day this year, and it will run from 9:00am to 4:00pm and is free to all rising sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students at Simpson. Pre-registration is required via the link below. There is no charge for STEAM camp, but any donations to Simpson's STEAM program are greatly appreciated. For more information or if you have questions, contact Austin Smith at [email protected] or Jenny Murphy at [email protected].
